There was an odd trend of people naming red meat based dishes "birds".  I've also seen "Veal Birds". I guess birds were the entree of the rich and famous.

  No wonder this one made the cover.  Carrots put artfully in a loaf pan and covered with a mixture of canned milk, condensed mushroom soup and rice; then (here's the tricky part) another layer of mouth-watering ground up ham, more canned milk and ketchup.  It's called "Easter Ham Dinner" hence the lemon bunnies.  Note the tempting cream of mushroom soup aka "sauce".
